"Holding on to the Summer" Outfit

This outfit is just perfection: the hand-cut bleached denim shorts (check), the longer sleeved top for those in-between warm and cool days (check), the brown oxford-like shoes with contrasting forest green socks (check and check). An added bonus is the forest green bag that matches the socks.

This girl has gotten it all right! We also love the long hair in a pony. Plus, she is reading a book!

Reading is sexy, so pass it on! A+

Tight Skirt, Big Backpack

It looks like we ran into a grown-up Dora the Explorer on the subway.

However, we're pretty sure even Dora would know better than to wear a skirt this tight, especially one this long. It cuts off at a very awkward length. We just cannot find any redeeming qualities to this outfit. Such a big backpack just inches away from a backside covered in super tight cloth, makes our eyes drift to places they just shouldn't drift to. Plus, this skirt will guarantee the wearer to be late all day since it makes for very short and restricted strides. How many trains do you think she missed until she finally got on this one?

Ladies, don't do this to yourself!

We do like the backpack, though--looks vintage and nice and sturdy.

When It's Easy Being Green

It is usually a fashion DON'T to commit to one color head to toe, unless you deliberately want to look like you are wearing a costume. However, the woman in the photo below (snapped on an NYC train) appears perfectly content, which brings us to the most important rule of fashion and style: WHO CARES what people think, the most important thing is that you feel good about your outfit.
It was honestly very refreshing to see this green on green on green combo and our moods were quite lifted that evening.

Sorry dear Kermit, it IS easy being green.

An Otherwise Chic Outfit

Our hearts wept when we spotted this lovely girl wearing a pair of dreadful boots!
Yes, we understand she might have had eight inch stilettos in her purse and although the boots are no doubt comfy, repeat after us:
"I shall never wear camel or brown with black and white."
We love the black and white combo outfit, but Minnetonka boots should be left for the weekend. We do not care if your feet are tired. Respect chic and chic shall respect you right back!

EPIC CANDY

At a store this past weekend there was a small bowl half-filled with candy that beckoned us "Reach out and take me!" There were two pouches in the bowl that looked like Conversation Hearts and even though it has been a bit more than a month since Valentine's Day, we--just like you--never say no to FREE CANDY.
It wasn't until the next day when we opened the pouch, curious to see what cheesy phrases we were lucky enough to get, that we kind of freaked out by what we saw.
What is the reason of our freak out? Take a look.

There is certainly a market for everything!
Scripture Candy has a website!
And FYI, the Candy tasted pretty good.

When Your Laundry Bin is Full

We have all been guilty of laundry laziness- leaving our dirty clothes off on the side of the room to collect in heaps. We vow to go do it this weekend, but a fun party comes up that only needs us to throw on a sparkly skirt or a dress shirt and we're good to go. Those fancier items, it may seem, are always clean, waiting, beckoning. But when Monday rolls around, we rummage through our reject clean clothing--you know, the clothing we wear to the laundromat--the clothing we are no longer proud of, questioning the designer or our buying decisions. So, our Monday mornings sometimes look like this:
Oy. But if your Monday, or any day, does NOT look like this more power to you! We gift you with an invisible crystal award shaped like Valentino's head, because that man has impeccable clothing. M'am, Aren't You Cold?

Sometimes we walk around New York City and realize that no, it is not actually the Fashion Capital of the World. Case in point: we saw this woman walking on Madison Ave a few weeks ago and were not sure what she tried to accomplish. Or perhaps...she got dressed in a hurry to deliver the documents in her hands?
In any case, there are many women who think wearing flats any time of the year is perfectly fine.
But here's a rule: if it's cold enough to reach for a fur coat, it is probably smarter and fashion-forward to wear boots. This is just tragic.
